A Season of Reflection: An Important Update from Bridge Humanitarian
Summary: An update on Bridge Humanitarian's decision to pause its tiny home initiative and refocus efforts to best serve refugee families amid a shifting resettlement landscape.
April 3, 2026

At Bridge Humanitarian, our mission has always been defined by the strength and resilience of the families we aim to serve. We believe that to build a "bridge" truly worth crossing, it must be anchored in compassion, transparency, and a commitment to the collective good of the refugee community across the globe.
Today, we are sharing a difficult but necessary update regarding our current operations and our path forward in 2026.
The Changing Landscape
The start of this year has brought significant shifts to the world of refugee resettlement. Between a complex global economic climate and the February 2025 block on new refugee entries into the United States, the resources and financial pools that support displaced families have become increasingly strained.
Because we hold ourselves to a high standard of stewardship, we have made the decision to pause our work towards creating a dedicated space with transitional tiny homes for the time being. We feel it would be a disservice to the broader humanitarian mission to compete for dwindling funds that other frontline agencies urgently need to sustain their immediate, life-saving work.
What This "Pause" Means
It is important to clarify that Bridge Humanitarian is not shutting down. We are simply taking a few steps back to reconfigure and re-evaluate how our team can best serve those who have already arrived.
During this season of reflection, our co-founders and team will focus on:
Consulting with Resettlement Agencies: We are in direct contact with local and national partners to identify the specific gaps in support for families currently living within the U.S.
Focusing on "Behind-the-Scenes" Support: We are shifting our energy toward advocacy and direct coordination that doesn't require public-facing campaigns.
Strategic Planning: We are refining our "Tiny Home" and sustainable housing models so that when the doors to resettlement reopen, we are ready to build faster and more effectively than ever before.
How You Can Still Help
The mission to support our new neighbors does not stop just because our social presence is currently paused. If you have been moved by our mission and still wish to contribute your time, voice, or resources to the cause, we encourage you to support these highly trusted global partners:
- UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency): Leading the charge in international protection and life-saving aid.
- HIAS: Providing vital services to refugees in 20+ countries.
- International Rescue Committee (IRC): Helping people whose lives are shattered by conflict and disaster.
Additionally, we encourage you to stay informed. Understanding the current policies surrounding refugee resettlement is the first step toward effective advocacy. Your voice in the political sphere is often just as powerful as a financial gift.
With Gratitude
To our donors and our community of bridge builders: thank you. We have genuinely loved every moment of building these bridges to better lives with you. While we may be quiet for a time, our hearts remain 100% committed to the belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
We are not saying goodbye; we are simply taking a breath to ensure that our next steps are the right ones. We have hope that we will get through this season together, and we look forward to the day we can share our next chapter with you.
With hope and gratitude, The Bridge Humanitarian Team
